It’s the last day of September and the witching hour at my house has already begun!!! So who else is staring out the window and waiting for the sun to go down as to watch the new Hocus Pocus properly!? I know my family, and I can’t be the only ones this excited?!
This time of the year is such a fun one. Of course, dressing up in costumes is a highlight, but it’s so much more than that for me; I love the togetherness this time of year brings. I love the cozy night strolls, laughs while decorating the front porch, and visits to all the best pumpkin patches! (Because how can we choose one?)
The start of school is busy, and the better half of September is spent getting into the swing of new routines. So let’s welcome October with open arms because October is always such a great month to reconnect, slow down and have some fun!
To get us all in the spirit (if you aren’t already), I thought I’d share some local events and our family’s favorite activities. I hope, if anything at all, it inspires you to make this October a memory-filled one with your own families!

- Dress up in Halloween costumes from past and present and put on a fashion show
- Decorate your home together
- Get creative and make spooky creations
- Spooky prank your significant other
- Do the Monster Mash and Time Warp
- Visit the pumpkin patch
- Visit the library and read spooky books
- Make a Halloween card with the kids and send it to a family member you miss
- Visit the park and collect leaves
- Watch Scary movies
- Take an evening bike ride
- Rake leaves and jump in
- Bake cookies
- Find your way through a corn maze
- Take family photos
- Bake pumpkin seeds
- Family game night
- Go on a Hayride
- Visit Disneyland
